Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or date of birth typed into one of the search boxes goes directly to the outside provider that runs that search. The provider processes the request and returns the results. We do not keep or log the terms you enter.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If you write to us, we keep the message so we can answer it. It stays with the people who run this site. We do not pass it to anyone outside our organization unless a valid legal order compels it.
Data We Gather Automatically
Serving a page produces some technical detail about the visit, and our servers record it:
- The IP address your device is using
- The browser you are on and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- Which pages loaded and how long each stayed open
- The site that referred you here, when there is one
- A timestamp for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
We set cookies. These small files sit on your device and show us how the site gets used, including which pages draw traffic and where readers leave. Analytics services help us total that activity. Your browser can block cookies at any time, and blocking them may change how parts of the site behave. We do not use this data to identify visitors as individuals.
What We Do With This Data
- Keeping pages online and loading quickly
- Routing a search request to the correct partner service
- Learning which pages help readers and which need work
- Finding and fixing technical problems
- Displaying advertising that may relate to your interests
We do not sell visitor data, and we do not build profiles of the people who read these pages.
No Warrant Data on File
This site does not host, compile, or sell any database of warrants or personal warrant records. It publishes general guidance about where Morrison County records live and how to reach them: Morrison County District Court and its administration office, the sheriff's Civil Process & Records unit, the state case search, and the state warrant file that Minnesota law keeps for criminal justice agencies.
We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Nothing we collect about visitors is assembled into a consumer report or into any file about a third party.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes on this site. Whatever you type into those tools is handled under the partner's own privacy policy rather than this one. Those partners decide what they keep and who they share it with, and we have no control over either choice. Read the partner's policy before you submit a search.
Links to Other Websites
We link to courthouse pages, county sheriff pages, state court portals, statutes, and city websites. Following one of those links takes you off this site, and the privacy policy of the destination governs your visit there. Read it before you share personal details.
Advertising partners may also track activity across sites to place targeted ads. That tracking happens on their systems, not ours.
Who Might See Your Data
Access to what we collect is limited, and it can reach the following parties:
- Search partners that handle a query you run here
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
- Advertising networks that place ads on our pages
- Law enforcement or another government body when a valid legal order requires disclosure
How We Protect Your Data
We use standard security practices to protect what we hold. Nothing online is ever fully safe, and we cannot promise that a breach will never occur. We limit what we collect in the first place, which is the strongest protection available.
Users Under 18
This site serves adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has sent us data, contact us and we will remove it.
Your Data Rights
Minnesota's data practices framework, Minnesota Statutes chapter 13, governs how government agencies handle the data they hold, and it gives people inspection and copy rights over public government data. That framework applies to the courts, the sheriff, and the county, not to a private site like this one. Whichever state you live in, you may still ask us to:
- Show you what we hold about you
- Correct information that is wrong
- Delete data we have about you
- Stop certain kinds of processing
Records held by the court or the sheriff are a separate matter. Requests for those go to the office that keeps them, and Minnesota's data practices law controls the answer.
Updates to This Policy
This policy can change. When it does, the revised version appears on this page with a new effective date, and the date is the signal that something moved. Check back if you want to stay current on how visitor information is handled.
